Designed by Rita Abou Arraj, Jig-Saw is a unique solution that allies the kitchen's complex and numerous needs with a dwindling space, without compromising on aesthetics. These multifunctional kitchen tiles are magnetized, mobile, removable, and interchangeable, providing a practical and customizable solution for modern kitchens.
The tiles are placed on a pre-stainless-steel surface over the wall stripe, between the countertop and cabinets. They are available in various sizes, ranging from 5x5 cm to 20x40 cm, and are composed of kitchenware molded into resin or plastic modular tile elements. Each tile is embedded with magnets on the back, allowing for easy installation on the stainless-steel surface.
One of the key strengths of Jig-Saw is its versatility. The tiles can be used as a cutting board, tray, scale, and more, depending on the user's needs. By custom-tiling these functional kitchenware elements on the wall, Jig-Saw maximizes space, increases practicality, and adds personality to one of the main spaces in a home.
Installation is simple, requiring the thin stainless-steel sheets with a wooden panel background to be installed on the empty wall strip or any empty surface in the kitchen. The wall composition can be customized by alternating negative and positive tiles, and both the background and tiling elements are available in various color combinations.
Jig-Saw was born out of a thorough research process, which involved online and field research as well as collaboration with local manufacturing facilities. The main challenge was incorporating functional kitchenware within the tile format while maintaining their usability. However, the interest in mass production was evident, as Jig-Saw offers a solution to a major current and upcoming urban space problem.
This innovative design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2016. It is praised for its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Jig-Saw integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
